An opportunity has presented itself within the Business Support Service for an enthusiastic and confident individual to provide our customers with a professional, high quality approach to service delivery and who will rise to the challenges this service presents.

This post is an internal advertisement, open to Permanent and Fixed Term employees of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.  Temporary employees are eligible to apply providing they have 24 months continuous employment with the Authority.

This post can also be offered as a secondment opportunity. Before applying for this as a secondment opportunity, candidates should seek approval to be released from their current post by their Line Manager. Secondments are available to permanent staff of the Authority only.

The role of the Business Support Assistant Level 3 will be based within the Environment and Regeneration Team. The Team operates in a very busy environment, providing support services to a range of areas. This role will specifically focus on supporting both the Economic Development Unit and Strategic Projects but will also provide support to a diverse range of services based within the Environment and Regeneration hub of Business Support. 

Principal accountabilities for this role include:

  • Working with the Authorities financial systems, specifically Civica Purchasing
  • Using specific be-spoke databases
  • Dealing with enquiries from local businesses, stakeholders, officers, members of the public and elected members

Qualifications for the position are 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) grade C or above (including Mathematics & English).  IT literate in MS Office and good communication skills are essential for this position.

Experience of working in a customer focussed environment and dealing with a wide variety of requests and issues together with a rounded knowledge of Council services will be of great advantage in this role.
