The Strategic Projects Officer – Energy Strategy and Innovation is responsible for managing energy related strategic projects and implementing change through the use of innovative and emerging energy technologies in order to meet future carbon targets and contributing towards reducing levels of fuel poverty across the borough

A newly created opportunity has arisen within the Environment and Regeneration Directorate for someone to play a key role in the development and delivery of strategic projects as outlined within the Authority’s Strategic Projects Business Plan.

You will work with key functions and service areas across the Council to develop and agree the roadmap, KPIs, actions and responsibilities for the regeneration energy projects programme as well as progressing, monitoring and reporting its progress.

You will identify funding opportunities and prepare funding bids across a range of funding sources for the delivery of strategic projects and develop, implement and evaluate strategic projects in line with the Council’s Corporate Project Management framework.

Other responsibilities include;

  • The provision of in-house technical and policy expertise on energy
  • Assisting in the preparation of the project budget
  • Acting as an accessible central point of expertise across Public Services on energy
  • To commission and oversee studies, research and pilot projects as appropriate to contribute towards the regeneration energy projects programme.

The ideal candidate will possess a Degree or equivalent in an area such as Geography, energy, maths or science related subject and experience of working in the area of energy.

Other experience essential to the role includes that of producing clear and concise reports, presentations and briefings on complex and sensitive issues for a range of audiences and stakeholders and experience of undertaking procurements, tender evaluations and ongoing contract management.

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
