Job Summary        

Managing and leading a team of Community Connectors to further develop and deliver community connector support within the Information, Advice and Assistance Team across Blaenau Gwent.

This post can also be offered as a secondment opportunity. Before applying for this as a secondment opportunity, candidates should seek approval to be released from their current post by their Line Manager. Secondments are available to permanent staff of the Authority only.

The Community Connector Service provides support and advice to vulnerable adults, their families and carers that promote citizens to enjoy more independent lives in their communities.

We are looking for a Community Connector - Team Leader who will play an instrumental role in managing and developing the Community Connectors and will raise awareness and deliver the Community Connector Service across Blaenau Gwent.

The successful applicant will need to be experienced in working in partnership with a wide range of organisations, including statutory partners and third sector groups, and of promoting and marketing a service and delivering training sessions/presentations to stakeholders and service user groups.

Educated to at least NVQ Level 3 (with a willingness to work towards level 4) or A Level Standard or equivalent standard/professional qualification in social care, health or community development, the successful applicant will possess;

  • A good understanding of asset-based approaches to community development and individual well-being
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation for health and social care
  • Understanding of adult service users’/carers’ needs and vulnerable people


The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
