We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to undertake the role of Senior ICT Officer. The postholder will be responsible for the installation and upgrading of the SIMS Suite of Software, including FMS, SIMS Learning Gateway and In Touch, training and support the Finance/ SIMS Support team in day to day support and developments in the Core SIMS Suite of Software and provide day to day support in the specialised curriculum modules such as NOVA-T, Curriculum Assignment, Examinations, Profiles, Assessment Manager, Partnership Exchange and Discover. Such support includes the administration of the A2C examination software.
 
You will also be required to provide priority support for the completion of the relevant Statutory Returns for Welsh Government. Data returns are checked for anomalies that are rectified with schools directly and all submitted returns are validated against the information management strategy for Welsh Government, provide priority support for the submission and delivery of electronic examination results, to ensure that schools receive the data during the ‘pre release day’ in readiness for analysis and for pupils to receive the results on the release day and work alongside the Service Improvement and Performance Officer in the administration of DEWi.
 
Good educational attainments and possession of HNC/HND or equivalent in an IT related discipline qualification together with proven working experience in the provision of training, Windows Operating Systems, MS Office products and working within a support environment is essential.
 
 
This post can also be offered as a secondment opportunity to employees of Newport, Torfaen, Monmouthshire and Caerphilly Councils.  Before applying for this as a secondment opportunity, candidates should seek approval to be released from their current post by their Line Manager.
 
Secondments are available to permanent staff of the Authority only.
 
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
