The Lead Officer will be required to strategically lead the inclusion Services to ensure that all vulnerable pupils including those with ALN benefit from the service and that none are placed at a disadvantage.
 
The post entails contributing to the professional practice for ALN and inclusion and working closely with schools, school improvement advisors and other relevant partners to ensure that the curriculum and learning programs are designed to meet the individual needs of vulnerable pupils, including those with ALN.

An exciting opportunity for a Lead Officer has arisen in the Education Directorate. The successful candidate will be leading the implementation and development of the Inclusion Strategy for Blaenau Gwent.  
 
The post holder will be responsible for promoting and ensuring access to learning & development so that no vulnerable pupil suffers disadvantage. You will ensure that access to the services are delivered in an integrated way so that vulnerable children including those with ALN and their families can benefit from the services provided.  
 
The role requires you provide line management to a range of inclusion services and to lead or participate actively in a range of partnership and Officer arrangements and meetings related to the ALN & Inclusion area and to the corporate working of the authority, promoting the Council’s vision and values in such meetings.
 
The post holder will be responsible for the management and allocation of funding that supports or relates to Inclusion Service provision,  and will need to posses the ability to analyse services in the context of value for money and market focuses.
Educational attainments for the post include the possession of a degree or comparable level of educational achievement, and continuous professional development at post graduate level as well as the possession of knowledge & understanding of legislation framework relating to SEN inclusion and children’s services and of the ALN Code of Practice.  
 
 
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
