An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to work as a Community Occupational Therapist for Housing Support in the Community Resource Team of Blaenau Gwent’s Adult Services.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for participating as a member of the team and independently managing a specialist clinical caseload. They will contribute to implementing changes in their own clinical area to improve patient care and efficiency of service delivery and ensure accurate and appropriate records are kept and maintained in accordance with Health Board/Local Authority guidance and professionally agreed criteria.
 
The successful candidate will carry out appropriate casework enquiries in order to establish applicants’ circumstances to make the allocation and re-housing process effective, this will include home visits and close liaison with Social Services, health professionals and other agencies. They will be required to make recommendations, based on assessed needs for the provision of adaptations and equipment to assist daily living and where applicable recommend property types in which these adaptations can be reasonably achieved including recommendations in relation to new housing projects / housing developments etc. They will also be required to provide advice and information on all relevant aspects of housing options in order to manage applicants’ and tenant’s expectations to enable applicants to make an informed choice about their future.
 
Essential educational criteria for this role include: A diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy, state registered Occupational Therapist with HPC, an appropriate range of postgraduate clinical education and relevant clinical educators’ course or willingness to undertake training.  
 
Special requirements for this role include possession of a full driving license and access to a car for work purposes.  
 
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
 
Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The post holder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
