An opportunity has arisen within the Corporate Services and Strategy Directorate within Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council for a Civil Contingencies Officer.The successful candidate will provide professional advice to the Council in respect of civil contingencies. You will develop, support and maintain response arrangements based on community risk to enable a coordinated approach to the response to emergencies and disruptive incidents, taking into account legislation related to civil protection.The successful candidate will lead and project management of areas of responsibility, relating to emergency preparedness and business continuity:o Working with partner organisations within the Local Resilience Forum in development of multi agency arrangements to enable a coordinated approach to emergency response.o Supporting the organisation, delivery, facilitation and evaluation of presentations, training events and exercises.o Contributing towards the development of business continuity management plans in order to ensure an effective response to any incident or service disruption, either internal or external.o Providing professional advice to the Council in respect of emergency response.Essential requirements for this role include being educated to HNC/HND Level or equivalent, you must have an understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, Local Government responsibilities and experience of multi-agency partnership working. You will be required to work unsocial hours when necessary.The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.Closing Date: 1pm – Thursday 16th AprilInterview Date: Tuesday 28th April
