An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of two Social Workers within the Children’s Placement Team within the Social Services Division.You will supervise, support contribute to the training of foster carers, kinship carers, supported lodgings providers and “When I am Ready” Carers to enable them to effectively care for vulnerable children and young people in line with Departmental Policies and the National Minimum Standards for Fostering. You will also assess applicants wishing to become carers, identifying strengths and areas for development.You will be able to effectively manage a caseload, produce reports for a variety of audiences and act as an advocate in pursuit of the service users’ best interests. You will represent Social Services in multi-disciplinary settings and comply with all relevant County Borough Policies.Essential requirements include; CQSW: Diploma or BA honours in Social Work, registration with the Care Council for Wales, Social Work experience in Children or Adults Services including placements, knowledge of current legislation, regulations and standards. You must also be I.T. literate, possess effective negotiating and problem solving skills and knowledge of anti-discriminatory practice.The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.Closing Date: 1pm – Thursday 30th July 2015Interview Date: Friday 14th August 2015
