To provide a service to children, their families or carers, which will include assessment, care planning and direct work with children who are in need or looked after.

A rewarding opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to assist the Social Services Department in the care and protection of vulnerable children within the community.

 

You will undertake assessment and provide early intervention and support as part of a care plan for individual children including Children in Need and will establish and maintain effective working relationships with service users, carers and colleagues in social services and other agencies.  

 

You will be required to attend and contribute to supervision, team meetings and case reviews and maintain accurate records in accordance with Directorate Policy. You will respond to situations that require immediate action and undertake any duties appropriate to the role as directed by the Team Manager, Senior Practitioner or Director of Social Services.

 

Essential requirements include 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A-C including Maths and English, NVQ Level 2 in Health/Child Care or equivalent, proven experience of working with children and families and of working with other agencies to meet the needs of children and their families. You must be understanding of the needs of vulnerable children, be able to work to promote positive outcomes for children, young people and their families and be able to work to stringent time scales.

 

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The post holder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
