Job Summary
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Children’s Service’s Integrated Services Team (IST). The Families First team are looking to recruit a professional, motivated and welcoming individual to work as a Family Support Worker for the Community Hub.
 
This post is open to permanent, fixed term and temporary (with 12 months continuous employment) employees of BGCBC only.

The successful candidate will work as part of Families First, delivering high quality family support services to vulnerable children, aged between 0-19 and their families.  They will provide support, advice and encouragement to families across Blaenau Gwent, acting as a key worker and meeting individual family needs via the Team around the Family model.   
                                    
The successful candidate will deliver group sessions and motivational programmes e.g. STEPS programmes. They will offer support on various subjects including worklessness, parenting skills, debt and financial management, health issues and a number of other family support packages. 
 
Working within the All Wales Safeguarding procedures and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) guidelines, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all case files are kept up to date in line with the current legislation; they will undertake clerical duties as required by the Team Leader and collate appropriate data for the Families First database.
 
Essential requirements for this role are possession of a relevant Level 3 professional qualification in Early Years, Health Education or Playwork, along with experience of working with children, young people and families on a one to one basis in a home or community setting and experience of multi-agency partnership work.
 
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
