Job Summary
 
The role of the Family Community Worker is to support the Manager in ensuring an efficient and quality contact service is delivered to children and families in Blaenau Gwent.

An opportunity has arisen within the Children’s Services Locality Team for a Family Community Worker (Contact Team).
 
You will be responsible for supporting supervised contact arrangements as agreed by referral and review, ensuring that contact sessions are planned and supported to meet the needs of the child(ren) in question and support parents in developing their relationship and interactions with their children to ensure that contact sessions are as positive as possible for the child(ren).
 
Essential criteria for the role includes GCSE English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent, N.V.Q. Level 2 or equivalent in social/child care and proven experience of direct work with children, their families and carers. You will also be able to engage effectively with a range of professionals and agencies to promote partnership working and an understanding of the needs of children who are looked after and/or in need of protection.
 
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
 
Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
