Job Summary

To develop and deliver a Manual Handling advisory service for the Social Care Sector and to deliver assurance that statutory obligations regarding training, qualification, and professional body and council registration are met.

 

Full Advert

We a looking for a dedicated Senior Occupational Therapist to develop and deliver a Manual Handling service for the Social Care Sector in liaison with the other Workforce Development Service Partners, public, private and third sector organisations.

The post holder will ensure that statutory obligations for staff are met whilst managing the analysis and planning of a comprehensive Manual Handling training Service. You will also provide training and learning solutions to prevent harm to the vulnerable and improve the safety of the vulnerable.

Other duties include monitoring and advising on fit for purpose training environments and equipment, managing operational resources and contributing to the application of Welsh Government funding and grants.

Essential to the role is a diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy and attainment of (or willingness to work towards) an All Wales Manual Handling Passport Trainer qualification.

You must also possess knowledge of relevant legislation and of the range of equipment/adaptations to assist with moving and handling. Essential skills include but are not limited to:

  • Advanced IT use
  • Presentation skills
  • Research and Development skills
  • Political Awareness and application
  • Customer Focus

This post can also be offered as a secondment opportunity. Before applying for this as a secondment opportunity, candidates should seek approval to be released from their current post by their Line Manager. Secondments are available to permanent staff of the Authority only.

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
