A temporary opportunity has arisen for someone with experience of working in Registered Childcare and of management within children’s services, as a Childcare Coordinator within the Flying Start Childcare Team providing childcare services for children aged 0-3 years.

You will manage all Flying Start Childcare provision for all eligible children aged 2-3 years throughout the Flying Start areas, supporting the Local Authority Flying Start childcare settings with CSSIW registration, ongoing compliance, self-assessment reports and action plans. You will manage and support all settings delivering Flying Start childcare to provide a high quality and stimulating environment, this will include the recruitment and managing of Local Authority Childcare Leaders, supporting them with supervision, induction and appraisals.

Liaising with parents and carers, you will manage and coordinate children’s entry and exit to Flying Start childcare and provide taster sessions for them and their children. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and agencies to develop positive relationships and coordinate/attend meetings as and when required.

Essential qualifications for the role are;

  • Children’s Care Learning and Development Level 3
  • Qualified to Level 4 NVQ (or the new Level 5 QCF equivalent)
  • GCSE grade A–C in Maths and English or Key Skills Level 2 in Application of Number and Language and Communication or equivalent

Experience and knowledge required includes;

  • Post-qualification experience of working in Early Years,
  • Experience of working in partnership with a wide range of individuals and agencies,
  • A thorough knowledge of legislation, guidance and standards related to Early Years including Flying Start Strategic Guidance 2012,
  • An excellent working knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures.
