Job Summary

As Team Manager you will share in the management and supervision of the work of the Safeguarding Unit which includes the Independent Reviewing Officers and Independent Conference Chairs.  You will also be the nominated Child Protection Coordinator/LADO for Blaenau Gwent, fulfilling all the statutory obligations in relation to this position.

Blaenau Gwent CBC is looking to recruit a highly qualified, professional individual to share in the management and supervision of the work of the Safeguarding Unit and to chair and/or represent the Authority at multi agency safeguarding meetings.

You will promote and monitor the professional practice and professional development of staff and participate in the development and delivery of training whilst ensuring the implementation of legislation by developing safeguarding policies, procedures and guidance.

Essential elements of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Diploma in Social Work or equivalent
  • Registration with Social Care Wales
  • Substantial post-qualifying experience of statutory childcare
  • Experience of chairing meetings
  • Experience of direct involvement with child protection
  • Commitment to working in partnership with all service users and their families

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
