To deliver intensive interventions and to facilitate family group conferences/meetings with the aim of: preventing children becoming Looked After, supporting families for whom rehabilitation has been identified as the child’s permanence plan and contributing to assessments of potential for change and rehabilitation.  To form excellent working relationships with citizens and colleagues and be able to work within the framework of a care and support plan.

An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of two full time Support Workers in the Supporting Change Team within the Social Services Department.  This role will be designated to make arrangements and facilitate family group conferences/meetings for cases open to Social Services in order to identify resources and support within the extended family and friend’s network.

You will support families where their child/ children’s needs are being met through a care and support plan.

You will be able to effectively manage a caseload, organise and facilitate family group conferences and meetings.  You may produce reports for a variety of audiences and act as an advocate in pursuit of the service users’ best interests.  You will represent Social Services in multi-disciplinary settings and comply with all relevant County Borough Policies.

Essential requirements include: 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, a relevant Level 3 or above professional qualification in Social Care, Health, Education Early Years, Youth Work or Play Work, proven experience of working with children, young people and families, desirable experience in facilitating family group conferences or any equivalent group work.  You must also be I.T. literate, possess effective negotiating and problem solving skills and have knowledge of anti-discriminatory practice.

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
