The Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly Workforce Development Service is a pioneer, using innovative and fresh approaches in the way that it works and delivers.

As one of the Workforce Development Officers you will be working with a customer base that safeguard, care, and enable the most vulnerable in our society.

The service drives itself to be the best at what it does and it needs the best skills and enthusiasm to fuel the successful results the team achieves.

Current strategy with pace includes digital transformation and customer and commercial focus.  If any of those words are included in a description of your best achievements in service delivery then this could be the opportunity for you.

The service delivers a portfolio of workforce development activity for anyone that works in the social care sector within the geographical boundary.  We sustain the delivery of the service by maximising available funding and developing healthy partnership working with our public, private, and voluntary sector colleagues.

Reporting to a Business Partner you will be identifying workforce development needs, solutions, and then make them happen.  Your priorities will be highly influenced by things like; legislation, advancements in social care, technology, fundamental principles and values of care, regulations and statutory requirements, and change that matters most to the customer and citizen they serve.  You will understand the changing pace and shape of social care and deliver a service to them in a commercially focused way.

If the role feels right for you then your application will be able to show, but not limited to:

  • Qualified to a minimum of Level 4 or 5 in a relevant field.  This would include areas such as Workforce Development, Management, Project Management, or Education.  You may be a member of a related professional body such as the Chartered Institute of People and Development.
  • You will certainly be comfortable with technology to an advanced level and keep up to date on emerging innovation.  You will have examples of where you have used a digital approach to improve productivity or outcomes for your customers.  Serving customers and influencing in a commercially driven environment will feature in your experience.
  • You have a basic level of knowledge of the workings and role of a public sector organisation and you will be practiced in engaging others and seeing the bigger picture.
  • You will be able and confident to travel to various locations within Wales.
