Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Corporate Services Directorate for the position of a Benefits Officer.

This post is an internal advertisement, open to Permanent and Fixed Term employees of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.  Temporary employees are eligible to apply providing they have 24 months continuous employment with the Authority.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and support to members of the public who are entitled to, or wish to apply for, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Free School Meals and Clothing grants.

The successful candidate will conduct face to face interviews with members of the public and deal with telephone queries and verify/process claims in accordance with regulations.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process.  The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
