Job Summary

Blaenau Gwent Children’s Social Services is looking to appoint, on a permanent basis, a Senior Social Work Practitioner based within the Tredegar Locality Team.  The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to undertake complex social work practice and decision making in statutory social services, an ability to support and supervise staff, work in partnership and work in accordance with legislation, regulations, guidance and departmental policies.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, experienced social worker (or existing senior social work practitioner) to join our Children’s Services team in Blaenau Gwent.

We have a permanent senior social work practitioner position available and are looking for energetic, dedicated people to fulfil the requirements of the role.

The senior social work practitioner will be responsible for providing a high quality service in relation to all aspects of the referral, decision making, assessment and care management process.  This will include complex case management (including Child Protection and Court work), chairing complex meetings, supervision of staff, and ensuring performance and data information is properly collated and recorded on the WCCIS system and monitored in accordance with quarterly reporting requirements.

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
