Appointment for Summer Term 2020, or sooner if possible.

The Headteacher and Governing Body of Glyncoed Primary School wish to appoint an inspirational Deputy Headteacher for our school, which sits in the heart of our community, situated in the Glyncoed area of Ebbw Vale.

We are a growing and happy school, with 348 pupils on roll and a dedicated team of teaching and support staff. We are excited for the future of education in Glyncoed - a new framework for education in Wales will coincide with us moving into a new school building in the next few years.

We are keen to appoint a Deputy Headteacher who will continue to build on the school’s successes, and who will work to achieve and maintain high standards; to inspire, motivate, nurture and support staff and pupils.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our school, at an exciting stage in our improvement journey. The successful applicant will be key to realising the school’s mission to create ‘firm foundations’ for all of our children.

We are looking for someone with a passion for making a real difference to the lives of children in our community.

You could be the one for us, if you:

  • Are a caring, reflective and excellent practitioner who truly places the wellbeing of all children at the heart of your practice
  • Have a passion for teaching, and high aspirations for all pupils
  • Are an inspirational leader, able to empower and motivate staff
  • Know how to design, plan and provide authentic teaching and learning experiences which enable children to realise the Four Purposes in their learning
  • Have up to date knowledge and understanding of the National Mission for Wales
  • Are a strategic thinker with proven leadership experience and good interpersonal skills
  • Are confident and are able to communicate with all of our school community
  • Are excited by the future of education in Wales, and its potential to shape successful futures for the children in our school community

The Governors will provide good support for the successful candidate who will demonstrate a strong commitment to working closely with them to provide high quality leadership and the best possible education for children.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The post holder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
