An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual to join the Highway team and to undertake routine maintenance duties in compliance with the authorities Highway Maintenance Plan. To problem solve and arrange corrective action in relation to all basic safety maintenance on the highway and provide flexible support across Community and Neighbourhood Services.
Essential qualifications and experience to the role includes:
- Proven experience in a highway or civil engineering related field with industry related knowledge in the highway environment.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Responsible for carrying out highway inspections and ordering repairs of highway defects, ensuring adherence to current policies, strategies and legislation.
- Inspect statutory undertakers during and after works in the highway ensuring adherence with national legislation.
- To have experience in planning your own workload
- To deal with all matters pertaining to highway / street works complaints by third parties
- Enforcement of contravention of the ‘Highway Act 1980’
- Full driving licence
Other essential requirements are willingness to undertake any training that is relevant to the role and to have an understanding of the Council’s work plans and challenges in meeting standards and public expectations.
