This rewarding role will suit someone who enjoys variety in their work and is able to be flexible in their approach.

The role is a critical one, supporting Children’s Services in providing comprehensive meeting support, arranging complex meetings, attending meetings to take detailed notes/minutes and diarising meetings/events.  A keen eye for detail, accuracy and good organisational skills are key to the role.

Principal accountabilities for this role include:

  • Arranging and attending meetings and panels to take notes/detailed minutes at various Children’s Services meeting, for example; PLO (Pre Proceeding), Outcome Strategy, Placement and Matching meetings.
  • Production of agendas.
  • Ordering via the E Purchasing system.
  • Distribution of Petty Cash and other monies.
  • Updating spreadsheets and databases via data entry, including WCCIS.
  • General administration, mail, scanning, typing, photocopying, etc.
  • To comply with the Data Protection Act and to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • To adhere to the principles of the Corporate Equality Policy and ensure commitment to Anti-Discriminatory practice.

Qualifications for the position are 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) grade C or above (inc. Mathematics & English).  NVQ Level 2 and ECDL or equivalent.

Experience of working in a business support environment and dealing with a wide variety of requests and issues together with a rounded knowledge of Council services will be of great advantage in this role.

This vacancy is open to Permanent and Fixed Term employees of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council. Temporary employees are eligible to apply providing they have 24 months’ continuous employment with the Authority.
