This exciting opportunity has arisen following the recent reconfiguration of current Service Managers responsibilities in Blaenau Gwent. The post is funded by the Regional Integration Fund (RIF) until March 2027 and is a key adult service post supporting social care and health partnership working at a Blaenau Gwent locality level.

We are therefore looking for a strategic leader who can demonstrate varied leadership skills, knowledge and experience across relevant health and social services. They will need to evidence significant experience in partnership working across the health and social care sector, alongside a sound knowledge of the relevant legislation across their key areas and a focus on preventative and outcomes based ‘what matters’ practice.

As Service Manager you will have strategic oversight of specific social work care and support teams alongside wider strategic projects as and when required.

You will lead the following areas:

  • Strategic Lead for Community Care locality teams East and West
  • Strategic lead for Adult Services Information Advice and Assistance team (IAA)
  • Strategic Lead for the Adult Social care partnership working with health (ABUHB) including Neighbourhood Care Networks (NCNs)  / Compassionate Communities / Integrated Service Partnership Board (ISPB) work plans and wider health and social care initiatives.
  • Strategic lead for Adult Services in developing and promoting the lived experience / community voice of vulnerable adults in our service improvement agenda

You will have an important link role across the wider Council, our Gwent LA partners and will be required to work closely with our elected members and ABUHB health colleagues within the Blaenau Gwent locality team.

You will be an integral part of our Blaenau Gwent social care family here in Blaenau Gwent and will be in a privileged position to be able to make a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable people who live in our communities.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
