As a Childcare Development Officer, you’ll be at the heart of transforming the childcare landscape in Blaenau Gwent. This is an exciting, varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll be driving the development of new childcare services, from day nurseries to out-of-school clubs, and helping existing providers grow and thrive. Imagine the thrill of supporting budding entrepreneurs as they open new childcare businesses, guiding them through registration, and seeing them succeed.

You'll be a key player in promoting Welsh language childcare, making a direct impact on the community’s cultural growth. You'll have the chance to design and launch creative marketing campaigns to recruit childminders in areas that need them most, ensuring families everywhere have access to affordable, high-quality care. Your influence will extend to training and workforce development, where you'll ensure childcare professionals are equipped with the skills and qualifications they need to thrive. Whether you’re organising exciting networking events to share best practices or administering grants to give providers the boost they need, your work will shape the future of childcare in the region. This role is a perfect blend of strategy, creativity, and direct community impact, offering endless opportunities to make a real difference.

About you

You’re someone who’s passionate about making a difference and believes in the power of high-quality childcare to change lives. You’ve got a strong understanding of the childcare sector, but more importantly, you’re excited to share your knowledge and support others in their journey. Whether that’s helping new providers get off the ground or supporting established services to grow, you take pride in seeing others succeed.

You’re great with people – from giving advice to childcare professionals, to collaborating with community partners, you enjoy building relationships and making connections. You’re confident managing multiple tasks and projects, and you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where every day brings new challenges. Plus, you’re always looking for ways to be creative and find innovative solutions.

Most of all, you’re someone who genuinely cares about the local community and wants to make a lasting impact. If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you on board!
