An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Legal and Compliance Team at Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.  This role is responsible for managing a varied caseload of contentious cases and includes advocacy in Civil and Criminal Courts. You will also provide legal advice and assistance on a diverse range of issues across all Council Directorates and Committees.

This role would interest someone who is confident and self-motivated, demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and who enjoys a varied caseload working in an agile environment which is predominantly home based with Court and office attendance when required. Council employees enjoy a range of benefits including flexible working, generous leave and pension entitlements and a staff benefit scheme.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate. Litigation and Court advocacy experience is essential, not necessarily gained in local Government.

Access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement of the role.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.

If you have any questions about the role or wish to discuss informally, please email Legal@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk leaving your name and telephone number.
