As Senior Social Work Practitioner in SEWAS you will be required to promote understanding of adoption and safeguarding matters in the team and to comply with adoption regulations and safeguarding procedures and practices. As senior practitioner you will support the team manager with leading and developing practice within the team and wider service as well as providing supervision to other staff members in the team. There will be a requirement to chair meetings and act as adoption panel advisor on a rota basis.

Other duties include gathering, analysing and presenting performance information, as requested by management and working in cooperation with colleagues and with other agencies in order to provide an efficient service to service users and carers as well as effectively managing an appropriate caseload.

Qualifications essential to the role are a CQSW; Diploma/degree in Social Work or equivalent and you must be registered as a Social Worker by the Care Council for Wales.

Essential knowledge/skills include, but are not restricted to;

  • Post qualifying experience in child care social work including experience of adoption work,
  • Experience of undertaking assessments including assessments of risk.
  • Knowledge of current legislation,
  • Comprehensive knowledge of working within a statutory Children’s Services.

This post requires a registration with Social Care Wales under the category of Social Care Managers / Social Workers and registration will need to be in place prior to commencement in the role.
