An exciting opportunity has arisen at Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council for an Environmental Health Technician working within our Commercial Team, located in the Environmental Health Service. We are a small team of highly motivated and passionate professionals and are looking for a like minded individual to join us. The health and safety, communicable disease and food safety functions are the key service areas which the Team currently delivers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a range of programmed and reactive interventions across all the areas of work of the Team but with a specific focus on health and safety. You must hold an NVQ Level 4 in Health & Safety; or the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; or equivalent. A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths is also required.
As the successful candidate, you will have experience in undertaking planned and reactive interventions for Health and Safety in a regulatory setting, excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as a sound knowledge of best practice and legislation relevant to the area of Environmental Health that you will be delivering.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and committed with a dynamic approach to their work and to providing high quality services, playing an important role within the forward-thinking Environmental Health Team.
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
