The Educational Department is looking to appoint a SEN Manager to lead the co-ordination and delivery of SEN statutory processes for Blaenau Gwent, ensuring compliance with regulations in order to secure outcomes compatible with the legal guidance and the local authority’s performance targets.
 
The SEN Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the SEN team, to offer support and develop the delivery of assessment, preventative interventions and statutory processes related to local authority provision for children, promoting local and national policies on inclusion.
 
In addition to this, the successful candidate will be required to maintain an up to date knowledge of changing case law and legal change in SEN, to work under the direction of the Lead Officer for Inclusion, to represent the local authority at SEN tribunals and to contribute in the development of Blaenau Gwent’s policies in respect of SEN/ALN/Inclusion and play a key role in disseminating and implementing the policies.
 
 
 
 
This role requires the successful candidate to be educated to a degree or comparable level of educational achievement, and evidence of continuous professional development at postgraduate level. Other essential criteria include:
 
  • Experience of developing a quality service for customers
  • Financial management experience to analyse services and market forces
  • Project management skills such as planning, delivering and financial implications
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to SEN inclusion and children’s services
  • ICT literate including word processing, use of emails and support office administration
 
 
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
