Job Summary

As Head of Regeneration across Blaenau Gwent, you will set the direction of regeneration policy in areas as diverse as economic development, planning, building control, housing, transport, employability and business services.

This post is an internal advertisement, open to Permanent and Fixed Term employees of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.  Temporary employees are eligible to apply providing they have 24 months continuous employment with the Authority.

As Head of Regeneration across Blaenau Gwent, you will set the direction of regeneration policy in areas as diverse as economic development, planning, building control, housing, transport, employability and business services.

This is a wide-ranging role, so you will work with a wide range of stakeholders.  These include leaders within the Cardiff Capital Region City Deal, Valleys Task Force and Tech Valleys Initiative, elected council members, senior officers, departmental colleagues and private and public sector partners.

You will also use your business acumen to identify and develop commercial opportunities arising from regeneration projects.

As a senior officer at Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, you will provide leadership, champion our ‘One Council’ approach and offer guidance on the impact of government policies on our work.

Experienced in managing resources and finances, you will be a consummate communicator who knows how to engage with external bodies.  You will also be able to show us that you’ve managed change in a complex and demanding environment.
