Blaenau Gwent Prevention Services are looking to recruit a Social Work Lead to join their busy Information, Advice & Assistance Team (Adults). The team manages all new social care referrals into the department and works with individuals to identify outcomes and make plans for their future.

Primary duties for the post-holder (alongside the team manager) will include:

  • Providing support, coaching and mentoring to enable front-facing staff to deliver team objectives/principles.
  • Providing regular and meaningful supervisions – identifying opportunities for individual and team progression.
  • Delivering training to the front-line workers when needed.
  • Quality assuring and ‘countersigning’ assessments undertaken by staff without the necessary qualifications.
  • Making decisions on referral outcomes based on assessment of risk and prioritization.
  • Carrying a small caseload of their own but to also be an involved worker on the more comprehensive IAA referrals.
  • Meeting regularly with practitioners in other teams to address any issues and to highlight areas of opportunity.
