Job Summary

The Family Information Service provides information, advice and assistance to parents, prospective parents, carers, children, young people and other professionals on any services that may be of relevant to children and families in Blaenau Gwent.

This post can also be offered as a secondment opportunity. Before applying for this as a secondment opportunity, candidates should seek approval to be released from their current post by their Line Manager. Secondments are available to permanent staff of the Authority only.

A great opportunity for current post-holders, who provide information, advice and assistance to members of the public, to take on the responsibility of delivering the Family Information Service for a period of 6 months.  The post sits within the Early Years Childcare and Play team in Integrated Services and provides a wide range of information to parents, carers, children, young people and professionals in other services.

You will be responsible for ensuring information about relevant services, events and resources is readily available and promoted where appropriate.  You will manage information through the new DEWIS database and will use a variety of means to promote information to the public via our on-line search facility, social media, website, via outreach and useful publications.  You will be experienced in working directly with members of the public and have very high customer service standards.

Essential experience and skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent IT skills with experience of data analysis and providing management information
  • A good understanding/experience of the childcare and play sector and family support services
  • Experience of working effectively and in co-operation with a wide range of internal and external partners

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
