An opportunity has presented itself within the Business Support Service for an enthusiastic and confident individual who can rise to the challenges of a busy support service.

The role will initially support our Planning and Building Control section with:

  • Receiving and registering planning applications
  • Receiving monies
  • Scanning applications
  • Data entry and updating live data
  • Coordinating notices, consultations and searches
  • Assisting with Planning Committee agenda items, uploads and associated actions
  • Minute taking
  • General administration; mail, scanning, photocopying, typing etc

Business Support is an agile workforce and whilst the role will initially support the Planning and Building Control section there is potential that the role can be transferred elsewhere in the service.  The role could also support areas such as Adult and Children’s Services and would include duties such as:

  • Arranging and attending meetings and panels to take notes / detailed minutes, these would include safeguarding meetings and meetings of a sensitive nature
  • Ordering via the ePurchasing System
  • Distribution of Petty Cash and other monies
  • Updating spreadsheets and databases via data entry

Qualifications for the position are 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) Grade C or above (including Maths and English), NVQ Level 2 and ECDL or equivalent.

Experience of working in a business support environment and dealing with a wide variety of requests and issues together with a rounded knowledge of Council services will be of great advantage in this role.

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
