Business Support are a diverse administrative service looking for someone who will provide our customers with a professional, high quality approach to service delivery; ensuring that both service standards and customer requirements are met.

This post is an internal advertisement, open to Permanent and Fixed Term employees of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.  Temporary employees are eligible to apply providing they have 24 months continuous employment with the Authority.

An opportunity has presented itself within the Business Support Service for an enthusiastic and confident individual who can rise to the challenges of a busy support service.

This role will support our Environment and Regen section by providing a high quality administrative service to the Estates and Asset Management Service.  Main functions include:

  • Dealing with tenancies in regards to garages, grazing and allotments, which generates an annual income of approximately £170k per annum;
  • Receipting of fees and end of year reconciliation of income;
  • Acquisition of land applications;
  • Serving legal notices, including attending site, in respect of encroachment of land;
  • Dealing with traffic orders and planning press notices;
  • Accurate filing of deed information and legal documentation;
  • Use of GIS to establish if land is Council owned.

Estates and Asset Management is a very busy section currently based down the General Offices, the successful applicant will be expected to spend some time with the team and also some time with the wider Business Support Team based in the Civic Centre.

Qualifications for the position are 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) Grade C or above (including Maths and English), NVQ Level 2 and ECDL or equivalent.

Experience of working in a business support environment and dealing with a wide variety of requests and issues together with a rounded knowledge of Council services will be of great advantage in this role.
